Well someone was talking about spelling cow on irc, and I thought it would be cool to use the spellingcow engine to make like a spellcheck bot on irc.
Speaking of IRC, does spellingcow have an irc channel? |

Hrmmmm... not sure how to do that, at least initially. As for an IRC channel here there isn't one yet. Maybe when the place gets a little more popular However, I'm known to not be much of a chatter... takes too much dev time away

did it work?!?!?!?
PS, you should just make an entirely new IRC spellchecker. Spellingcow wasn't made for irc _________________

Wow... IRC spell checker.... that would a) be extremely hard to implement, and b) probably not be worth it..
The only way i could think of to implement it, as there is no real "submit," would be to have the server run the text through a spell checker automaticly, and take most common word, so it could just get worse..... and cause a large load upon nutzys servers |

Mhh it's my personal opinion but i don't see the interrest to make a spellcheck on irc...
IRC is for chatting, if each time that anyone make a spell error, a bot tell to him that the correct word is ..., that will be very quickly annoying for the guy... Sure you can do this in notice and sure you can permit the user to disable the bot for him, but then the bot will not be used by someone...
Spellchecking in board is an essential tool... In IRC, that's not so useful because it's instant messaging... _________________ I'm the belgian chocolate eater |

I'd like to help the SpellingCow community, to create this 'IRC Engine'.
I've experience with the IRC Protocol, and with programming.
So if this is going to be 'make done', you've got my helping hand! |
