I registered here at spelling cow, edited the spell_gw.php file with my login name to set myself as admin, and now whenever I try to spell check I get an error saying "attempted hack, kicking the user in the nuts"
(p.s. I have removed the admin name in the meantime)
What am I doing wrong?
(I bought the site wide license tonight, but not the personal one - does that make a difference?)

just wait on nutty99, he seems to have been active latly. I'm not sure what your problem is, spellingcow thinks your attempting to hack into your own website I guess.
~edit did you try to reinstall it? Thats sometimes helps! |

Try reinstalling it.
The latest version of spell-gw.php doesn't have "kicking user in the nuts" anywhere in it... I just rampaged through the file and didn't see any thing close to that warning.
So redwonload spelling cow, re edit the files, and re upload them.
then tell me if you still get the same errors. |

I'm getting this error too, and I've definitely got the newest version. The nut-kicking message isn't generated by the php files, it's from the spellingcow website, so you won't see the error in the php files.
I can log in to the website directly without a problem, it's only when I log in from my site's spellcheck popup that I get the error.
edit - this only happens with the account I've set as the admin account. Using any other account is fine. |

Hmm, OK I found something that fixed this for me, might be of use to others out there....
I had an Apache URL rewrite rule set up in my website's .htaccess file, so that people going to www.mysite.com would be redirected to mysite.com. When I removed the rewrite, I was then able to log in to the spellcheck popup as the admin account. |
