Something like SpellingCow Spell Checker was exactly what my forum needed. (Does that sound like one of those infomercial testimonials or what?) One member in particular, not to mention any names (*cough**hack*Risika*cough*) has horrible spelling and it can get very annoying indeed. This is from out 'memorable moments' list (Which ended up being a thread full of posts where people would make statements in 3rd person and number them, because our threads often end up like that):
| Quote: | | 41. When Arqueete decided to make time to install a spell check MOD on the forum |
| Quote: | | 42. When Griffen agreed very much with the past comment thingy, adding that the dictionary would be of great use to many people, and it would stop a bunch of annoyences for those people who hate a bunch of spelling errors. |
| Quote: | | 44. Risika tells you she cares not that she can't spell |
| Quote: | | 45. When Griffen tells Risika that thought she may not mind, Griffen herself and others do mind, because reading a post filled with spelling errors can be quite annoying. |
So, I went off and downloaded Spelling Cow and installed the lite version, and voila, fewer spelling errors.
...actually, it has only been in for a few hours during an off-time so it hasn't been used much yet, but I foresee it helping
Only thing left to do is finish updating the site dictionary then see how it works when Risika gets on I sure hope there isn't a limit of words you can put in the site dictionary, because we have plenty of things to stick in there Words like Snarkily, Pattacake, and Monocerous. And my own name since everyone keeps BUTCHERING it. Not to mention we're a Harry Potter RPG, so we need commonly misspelled Harry Potter terms in there as well, like Gryffindor, Hermione, and Avada Kedavra.
Anyway, its brilliant, and I never expected to find something that works so well with so many features. And easy to install, which is good for me since I don't like installing things.

Try the new version. It should work better. And if it doesn't, there's always the support forums to help you. _________________ Gordon P. Hemsley

I've looked at EasyMod before and it looks useful, though a spell checker was the last thing on my mods-to-find list so I might as well wait and maybe it'll hit a (or some ) new version before I'll need it. |
