I recently upgraded to Trillian professional, and one of the plug ins that they have, is a spell checker.

This thing checks your spelling, as your typing. and if a word isn't recognized, it will do the red squigily line under nieth it.

If the word matches one of the words in the dictionary database, that changes to another word.(i.e. teh would change to the when you hit space)

I just thought that this would make it sort of mandatory to use it. There is no way to get arround that. Unless you type in notepad and paste it in.

how about this. You get a little text area next to the message text area. and its called code. in there you would type

[code1] code here [/code1]
if you had more then 1 code to put .. then the next one would be
[code2]code here [/code2]

then, you type your message up. and where ever you want to place the code. For example. :

i just made a new website, need help with the logo though, here is what i have so far.
{code1}
any ideas??
also, does this look right to you guys??
{code2}

Thanks in advanced. bye

maybe you could dis able "pasted text" from the spell checker. Lets face it. your not going to write up 30 lines of code. your ganna paste.

Actually the idea is something I've considered. I want to introduce a whole suite of utilities and the spell checker is just the first of many Wink First I want to get the spell checker perfect and then I'll move on to other things that may entice people to use spellingcow (or whatever name the entire package will be) as their complete editing tool.

For the other tools, I may require a bit more of the sites that are installing them. They'll still be at no monetary cost, but I may require link backs or other ways of promoting spelling cow Wink

When I spell check. I am able to resize the spell checking box. Then, I also can reveal a website, in the top frame.

Might I suggest against the use of frames? And possibly even have a nice little "graphical layout" for the spell checker created? There are a few people over at blizzhackers im sure could make some nice ones you would like.

Unfortunately the frames are absolutely essential. I could lock them but I choose not to at this point since I'm developing and it would be a PITA for me.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean like a skin?

hrm... might i suggest translating this into .net at some point? adding into asp.net would allow a possibilty for a nice GUI, and ability to add it into non web-page apps, but still use the same database, id may be willing to help you do this, as I love .net ^_^
