The past few days I have a cadre of problems with SpellCow from a site that has been working for a long time and I have made no changes!!

Obviously this is about the Old v1.6 version

Right now I am getting pop up with a General Error
Code:

Error loading spelling words info

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1062 Duplicate entry '16777215' for key 1

INSERT INTO phpbb_spelling_words ( spell_id, word, position, suggestions, checked) VALUES ( 8168689, 'fo', 42, 'foe, foo, for, of, F, f, FPO, Flo, fob, fog, fol, fop, fro, do, go, O, o, FY, Fe, fa, ff, CFO, UFO, FD, FL, FM, Fm, Fr, fl, fr, ft, BO, Bo, CO, Co, Ho, Io, Jo, KO, MO, Mo, No, PO, Po, SO, co, ho, lo, mo, no, so, to, yo, F''s', 0)

Line : 1130
File : /usr/local/www/data-dist/www/public_html/spell-16/spell.ph

Earlier today I got page errors when access the forums. I had other errors from domain not available, to page not available to stuff I don't remember in the popup in the past day or so

friendsofcwg.com is the domain

K, now its changed again.

I put in script for v3 As You Type, with it defaulted off and the old button supported. things worked a bit better, as you type worked, and the pop up for the old button came up now. Though it fails on 'return' after correcting a word

I removed the new code, and the old button pop up worked, but also fails on 'return'

Code:

Error updating spelling word info

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3

UPDATE phpbb_spelling_words SET position = 0 , checked = 1, changed = 'ASIDES' WHERE word_id =

Line : 407
File : /usr/local/www/data-dist/www/public_html/spell-16/spell.php

As a complete aside going to http://spellingcow.com produces an page that just says Check 1, one needs to add the www

Apparently this has been reported in Bug Tracker forum as well

http://www.spellingcow.com/phpBB2/about5047.html

Kinda blows a bit not having any comments from official folks about it being worked on, status.

Sorry for the delayed response, but we don't say anywhere that we have 24/7 support, You gotta wait for our normal lives *work and such* to finish before we can get on. Yeah. Real life blows.

Anyway, Spelling cow was recently featured on slashdot, a rather popular website for "geeks". During the massive increase of traffic, from the article, spelling cows fell.

Nuttzy jumped on it, and fixed it. Not even I had access to the forums for the last couple days.

Everything seems to be up and running perfectly now, if you're sitll getting any problems, let us know.

Thanks for the fix, appears I am working now

Sorry you took a bit of offense to the 'kinda blows' not to know comment. But when you have users to support and have to readjust things - and your in the dark - it does kinda blow.

I am sure its not easy for you all trying to start up a business on the side, with limited resources and a day job claiming for attentions. To be honest I am not aware of what the structure/situation is. I see Nutty listed as CEO, which make it sounds like a business

I think its a bit disingenuous to look at this as request/demand for 24x7 support. All I was asking for was communication, that it was known and being worked on. That could have been posted on home page, or in the forum announcements.

However, I do understand your in the better position to judge what could have been done better, not telling you how to do your job, just asking you use it to learn from.

Do appreciate the work done, honestly and the product it self.
Id even consider paying more then $25 a year.

I didn't take offense. I was being a smart ass. Smile

The reason for me being a smart ass, was, this topic was made, today, and people where already getting ancy for an answer. You see what I mean? I could see you guys rioting over a topic that's been open for more then a couple days.

I, in no way, shape, or form, profit from this. What I do on the forums is all voluntary for Nuttzy.

I'm simply here to keep the forum clean of spam, and support users.

OK smart ass Smile

What I meant by some delay was the posting in Bug tracker looks like it came in on 9/4. I know I started having problems around 9/4 or 9/5
I thought it was a bit long not to have some in your face kinda message that the system was having problems, being worked on etc.

Thanks for all you do!!

(sincerely with not one bit of smarts or ass intended)

yep me to.

Currently, spelling cow pops up with my paragraph no options for me and all the add pages missing or not displayed.

Nuttzy definately has a server prob, but What?

I upgraded to the new version, but no adds and no highlighting.

The prob did start a few days ago, around the 4th maybe right.

Sence nutsy is using her own server, perhaps she should check into it or maybe restart it.

Thanks

having problems behind frame served pages.

No problem when going to the page separately.

Perhaps this is a problem that a lot of people are having.

Wait.... I know this happens on the as-you-type version... are you saying the popup version is having the same problem? The popup version had a database issue that has since been resolved.

The framed problem with the as-you-type version is something that's only going to get fixed in a later released (if it's even possible to be fixed).

Let me know!

Ya, my pop up version was not working, unfortunately, i lost the changes I made upgrading it to this new version.

I guess I will have to have my posts come up as separate pages, which works fine. This is why I am convinced the problem is easier to fix than it seems and is probably a problem totally on your end.
